Yoga for Recovery led by sober community member, Kate Gilbert
I said goodbye to booze in June 2019 and never looked back. Practicing yoga was a key part of my recovery journey, and in year two, I became a Registered Yoga Teacher through Breathe Salt Yoga in Jupiter, FL. I am opening my Zoom room to the greater recovery community for this FREE twice-weekly gentle yoga class. It promises to be a calming hour with community, breath and movement. Join us!
Do I need to have yoga experience to join?
Nope! Beginners are welcome. These classes are slow-flow Vinyasa yoga style, with specific cues to guide you into each pose. Yoga for Recovery also leans toward the more “gentle yoga” genre, meaning the poses and sequences we do are not so challenging or strenuous. Perfect for a yoga newbie!
What to Expect
Each class opens with a breathing and grounding exercise to get us into the mindset for yoga.
Yoga: 30-45min. yoga flow that starts slow and gentle, builds to a balancing pose, and then ends with more restful Vinyasa postures.
Closing: We always end with shavasanna and a poem or reading at closing. There’s often time for optional sharing or brief discussion at the end, too.
About the Teacher, Kate Gilbert
I created this Yoga for Recovery class because it was exactly what I needed when I was trying cut alcohol & other substances out of my life. I’m now 2 years sober from alcohol and a Registered Yoga Teacher. I am excited about sharing the gifts of yoga with the greater recovery community. I currently reside in Jupiter, FL & paddle board in my free time.
